Spam Warrior, Piñata and Gardener.... oh my!

Design by

Monday 24th of January  was ‘Community Manager Appreciation Day’, apparently,  and to mark it, Get Satisfaction put together an infographic of the inside of a Community Manager’s mind. I guess it's a given that I'd know what was inside my head, but it's nice to see my job compartmentalised into such a fun, and accurate infographic.

I’ve been working as a Community Manager at Jam for 6 months now, and my role involves ‘managing’ various communities made up of a total of over 765,000 members; it often gets busy(!) and looking at this infograph, I can certainly empathise with many of the qualities. I feel like a concierge, devoting vast swathes of time to a single customer's problem only to be rewarded by a thousand other customer problems. No matter how much abuse we get from members of the community, we still live to serve, please, appease and above all reward with engaging content and exciting give-aways (as summed up in the Piñata reference).

Despite this, I think the most apt description (and cheeriest) is the Gardener, as Community Managers must tend to their flock, watch closely over their mood and above all encourage them to grow with great content - reaping the rewards of their efforts in that oh-so-satisfying weekly report.

Please keep the language in your comments clean... oh, I'm sure you know the rest :-P
