WordPress.com has launched Jetpack, which includes a new functionality that shares posts to various social networks. Users can configure their blogs to automatically share posts with social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr, LinkedIn and Yahoo.
US Election Night breaks several online records
The 2012 US Presidential campaign was the most digital campaign season ever, breaking all sorts of online and social media records. To start, Barack Obama’s “Four More Years” victory tweet was the most shared tweet ever, with about 800,000 retweets in less than 24 hours.
Facebook redesigns Friendship Pages
Yesterday Facebook updated its Friendship Pages, a feature launched 2 years ago which shows all the posts, updates and photos you are tagged in with another person. The redesign scraps the old profile format for a new shared Timeline format.
Target and Neiman Marcus team up for “story within a story” ad
US retailers Target and Neiman Marcus teamed up to create a series of 5 storytelling ads that will run throughout the hit TV programme, “Revenge,” this Sunday. They will be the sole ads running during the show and will feature the cast of the drama in an ongoing “story within a story” that looks as if it is part of the programme itself.
Top 100 brands on Google + have a total audience of 23 million
A year after companies were allowed to create Google + profiles, the combined number of fans of the top 100 brands is 23.2 million, a huge increase from the 1.1 million in December 2011. Though still less than the total Facebook following of several brands, the sharp increase in Google + popularity among brands is significant.
