The Evolution of The Blogger

This diagram published by Flowtown revisits the journey that blogging has taken and how it has evolved into its current form over the past 16 years. It’s a fairly amusing take on the stereotypes that surround blogging but I think it is already a little out of date. It says that the next generation of bloggers will be micro-bloggers, but aren’t we already there? It also doesn’t take into account location based platforms; checking –in and adding tips and information about what you are up to live from different locations is a form of blogging, it just doesn’t have a specific title yet.
One thing the diagram demonstrates really well is how rapidly we’ve found new ways of expressing ourselves online, and how passions have developed into full on hobbies and even careers. It’s fascinating to think what this diagram will look like in 2026. Technology, and our ability to use it, is developing at a much faster pace than it has done in the past. It makes you wonder what other new types of behaviour will emerge…
