So it’s official, you can now control your computer using your brain waves. And this scary looking headset by brand of the future, emotiv.

By tracking your brains electrical signals, it lets you control what’s going on screen. You can have a looksee here:

I imagine that this has more applications that Microsoft’s soon to be released Kinect from Microsoft . However both examples use games as a primary application for this type of technology. This is because games are closed environments with specific triggers, which is a lot easier than working out what brain signal makes you open a specific word document. Naturally, blogs are buzzing with potential applications of this type of technology beyond the gaming arena.

I imagine that the office of the not-too-distant-future will be much quieter (sans the noisy bashing of the keyboard). I look forward to the future of accidentally sending e-mails with my mind.
