Twitter epitomises our celeb-loving society and provides a medium to check in with our favourite stars at all times of the day. Like an over-bearing mother clinging to a baby monitor, we sit preened to our screens waiting to see what hilarious interjection or witty social observation these on-screen idols come out with. Now those not content with incessantly @ replying celebs, hoping for the slightest of interactions can guarantee to be best friends in no time by paying money to have celebrities follow you, retweet you and mention you in a tweet.

Thankfully the whole practice isn’t as cynical as it sounds; it’s all in aid of aHomeInHaiti.org, but one does wonder when this will become de rigueur among celebrity circles.
