‘Friend’ Request

I’ve always thought that with Facebook I’m fairly reserved when it comes to accepting friend requests; I’m reluctant to add someone I once met for 5 minutes through my flatmate’s cousin’s friend’s sister, and that’s perfectly reasonable isn’t it?!

How smug I felt then, when I challenged my ‘happily accept anyone who adds me’ boyfriend to the How Many Friends Do You Know test. This nicely animated site tests how many of your Facebook friends you actually know (based on their images selected via Facebook connect), and it’s not as easy as you think. As face after unfamiliar face flashed before me, my smirk slowly faded.

Yes it’s fair to say that I did better than his dismal score of 2 out of 10, but at 5 out of 10 faces recognised, it was hardly the close knit group of friends I’d believed. It’s certainly something to think about when next uploading the holiday snaps – how many people am I really sharing all these photos with? Time for a Facebook friends cull!

My score sucked too, but I’m blaming my slow typing speed ;)
