Tracking profanity on twitter – Cursebird

Twitter often seems transient and fleeting; 140 keystrokes tapped out and launched into the public feed. If we’re lucky, your tweet will start a discussion and garner a few @ replies, but most tweets remain un-acknowledged, floating off the first page of the timeline and into the ether, never to return.

Cursebird.com is a real-time feed of people swearing on twitter. Similar to monitter.com it features a live feed but only tracks potty mouthed tweets. Proving yet again, that you need to be very careful of what you say online.

On the plus side, It’s a great way to dig dirt, through searching any users swearing history. According to cursebird @Spreadingjam ’swears like a mute’ (we’re a clean wholesome team, obviously), on par with clean typing @BarackObama. However, while peering into Mark’s history (@markallred) I was shocked to find his penchant for the word ‘shit’ – clocked on December 10, 2008 and March 5, 2009.

Shame on you Mark.
